Calculating a patient’s potential risk for breast cancer can assist in educating her and informing her ongoing health care.

iPrevent is a validated breast cancer risk assessment and management tool designed to facilitate prevention and screening discussions between women and their doctors.

This user-friendly, interactive calculator is intended for women who have not had invasive breast cancer or ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS). It will help them to gain a good understanding of their level of risk for breast cancer compared to another woman of the same age group.

The calculator takes around 30 minutes to complete, and a personalised report can be downloaded.

It is important to remember that the results of this calculator are not a guarantee of absolute risk levels, and that all women are at risk for breast cancer, no matter what their risk category. Some women at increased risk never develop breast cancer, and some women at low risk may develop the disease.

More information about iPrevent specifically for clinicians can be found here.
